What is the best PET there is? I'm planning to get a cat.?
I rent a room in a house with 5 rooms and they don’t mind if I get a pet. Whatever pet. They told me that cats are low maintenance pets and nice to snuggle with, but could wreck havoc on the furniture. What should I do? What pet do you think is the best? Any thoughts?
Ok, heres a little more reality when getting a cat and you rent:
The place you rent today may be okay with it, but the next you move to may not, and others will demand a hefty amount in pet deposit, like $400 or $500, that you may or may not be able to afford when moving. Cats have a tendency to tear carpet and you will be held responsible for the damage. You could think of getting a mouse or something easier to care for and that you can take with you to some other rental place without anyone even realizing you have a pet. That is much harder to do with a cat.
I am a cat owner and I love my cat but it’s also been hard to move and pay the pet fees required, on top of moving expenses and such. I have had to turn down beautiful and much cheaper places to live because they don’t allow pets and I won’t abandon mine.

I’ve had dogs, cats, birds, fish, snakes and a ferret. By far, my favorite and the easiest are the cats. As long as you keep the litterbox clean (we scoop it every day and completely change the litter once a week, or sooner if needed), then you won’t have a cat smell (they do need to be neutered).
Cats are very independent, don’t have to be walked and like to cuddle.

I have a hedgehog and they make great pets! They are small, quiet, clean and pretty unique. I got mine from www.iwantahedgehog.com.

if you were getting a cat, get about a ten month old one. trust me, you might regret if you don’t. i personally don’t like cats, though, but it sounds your lifestyle is perfect for a cat. they are quite easy to take care of. they don’t need to be walked or trained. they are most independent though, so its not easy when you want to pet the cat and the cat doesn’t. but, cats are quite enjoyable and funny. i also suggest a ferret, too.
